Elmo passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Iberia Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of Loreauville, Elmo was born on November 27, 1937, to the late Elmo Joseph Landry, Sr., and Rita Hollier Landry. He was a 1956 graduate of Loreauville High School. In his younger days, he helped his father on the farm and with the sugarcane crop. Elmo worked at Neuville Boat Works retiring from there after many years of employment. Even though Elmo never married or had children, he had such a special devotion to his nieces and nephews. He would always inquire about their well-being. He cherished those times spent with them, especially for holidays. He often said that his life had been blessed with a loving family.
One of his favorite pastimes was cutting grass. He would also jump at the chance to cut other family members’ yards. He would volunteer to help with anything that came along.
As an early riser, praying was a very important part of his day. Elmo faithfully watched daily mass on TV, recited the rosary, and prayed to his patron saint St. Joseph.
Survivors include his sister Marlene Roy (James), his brother Cecil Landry (Bobette); nieces and nephews: Patty Boggs (Patrick), Tammy Theriot (Jake), Mandy Broussard (Edward), Marla Begnaud (Brent), Matthew Roy (Kassie), and Jordan Landry (Marielle); great nieces: Hannah, Alyssa, Emma, and Calla; great nephews: Adam, Grant, Luke, Blake, Eli, Decker, Noah, and Liam; great-great niece Lily; great-great nephews Benny and Andy.
In addition to his parents, Elmo was preceded in death by his sister Joan Laviolette and brother-in-law Adam Laviolette, Jr.
Honored to be pallbearers are Matthew Roy, Jordan Landry, Adam Boggs, Grant Bienvenu, Brent Begnaud, and Edward Broussard.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Heart of Hospice and to Dr. Ronald Hebert for his compassion and the wonderful care he provided.
