Edward "Eddy" Evan Coates

Loreauville - Edward “Eddy” Coates passed away on November 1, 2023, at the age of 66. He was born on March 7, 1957, to Edward Coates and Paulita Levert Coates in Baton Rouge. Eddy loved deeply and had a passion for life like few others.  He was passionate about his career, first as a dedicated employee to Red Stick and Cintas where he worked for over 30 years and later for the Red Wing Shoe Company where he developed lifelong friendships. He was also passionate about LSU athletics, enthusiastically cheering on the Tigers any time they were on the field, court, or diamond.  Above all, Eddy loved people. He never met a stranger and enjoyed chatting with coworkers, friends, and family alike. His passion for people was known best by his loved ones who will eternally recall his desire to laugh with others and find happiness in all things. Eddy is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Catherine “Kim” Coates of 34 years; his two sons, Chad Coates and wife, Alana, and Chris Coates and wife, Macie; stepson, Justin Deshotels; his grandchildren, Maria Coates, Mac Coates, Lila Coates, and Caroline Coates; and his sister, Lexa Butcher. Visitation will occur at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville, Louisiana on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 10am until services at 11am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Loreauville, Louisiana.
