Lafayette ~ Funeral Services for Mr. Edward Bonin, Jr., 90, will be held at 12:00PM, on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard with Father Jeff DeBlanc officiating. Entombment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 10:00AM until the time of services. A Rosary will be prayed in the church at 11:15AM. A native and resident of Lafayette, Mr. Edward Bonin, Jr. passed away at 10:10AM on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at his residence with his family by his side. Mr. Edward Bonin, Jr., a dedicated family man and retired employee of the United States Postal Service leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He cherished his role as a husband and father, often seen praying with his wife and children, demonstrating his unwavering faith. Edward had a lifelong passion for trains, inspired by his father, a train engineer. He enjoyed fishing, taking pride in his beautiful yard, and raising fancy pigeons. A simple, good man, Edward will be remembered for his kindness, enthusiasm for life, and deep commitment to family and faith. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Edward is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lois Patin Bonin of Lafayette; two sons, Mark Bonin of Covington and Guy Bonin and his wife Nadine of Lafayette; two daughters, Nanette Prejean and husband Allen of Broussard and Robin Sonnier and husband Rickie of Duson; two brothers, Daniel Bonin of Lafayette and Michael Bonin of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Phillip, Eva, Rachel, Rhea, Andre, Katie, Joshua, and Carrissa; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Clare Bernard Bonin; and his daughter-in-law, Nancy Bonin.
