Born on August 16, 1931, in Franklin, to Lawless and Rena Melancon Verret, Uncle Dave's life was a testament to humility and dedication. Enlisting in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he served his country with honor, training as a skilled welder and fabricator, skills he later applied in the oil and gas industry. Yet, it was his profound appreciation for life's simpler pleasures that truly defined him.

Throughout his 70-year marriage to his beloved Ella Mae, Uncle Dave found joy in the natural world, indulging in pursuits like fishing, hog hunting, and tracking small game. His adventures often brought home a bounty, which Ella Mae masterfully transformed into delicious meals, forever remembered for her legendary white bean recipe. Together, they nurtured a family of four children, creating a legacy of warmth, compassion, and unwavering devotion. Uncle Dave's presence was a beacon of love, touching the lives of not only his family but also his many friends, who remember him as a mentor and confidant. His memory lives on in the hearts of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, a testament to a life well-lived and a love that endures beyond the bounds of time.
