David Joseph Choate

New Iberia– Graveside Services will be for David Joseph Choate, 68, on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 12:00PM at Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Chris Fuselier officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Rayne, David passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at his home. He was an active participant in the day program at the ARC of Acadiana, where he formed many meaningful friendships and found joy in his daily activities.

David had a passion for the simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed drinking coffee and Coca-Cola, often sharing a cup with friends and loved ones. Music was a significant part of his life, bringing him comfort and happiness. He also had a fondness for magazines, spending hours immersed in their pages.

David's gentle spirit and love for life touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all.

He is survived by his brothers, Tommy Choate, Brad Choate, Timothy Choate and wife Monica, Michael Choate; nieces and nephews, Troy Choate, Rachelle Choate, Jason Choate, Julie Choate, Aaron Choate, Jill Breaux, Melissa Choate, Shane Choate, Steven Choate, Scotty Choate, Matalyn Choate, Ezra Choate, Hannah Gotreaux, Lilia Choate, Eben Choate, Phebe Choate, Levi Choate, Victoria Choate; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Murphy and Mary Louise Gaspard Choate; brother, Pat Choate.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Ezra, Eben, Levi, Tommy and Timothy Choate.

The family would like to thank Arc of Acadiana and Hope Hospice for all of their care and compassion.
