Sandy, a native of Lafayette and a resident of Broussard, died at 1:03PM on Friday, October 20, 2023, in Broussard, LA.

She graduated from Ovey Comeaux High School in 1972 and met the love of her life, Dallas, in 1972. She went on to be a medical biller for 16 years at Hamilton Medical Group, 19 years at Iberia Medical and was currently working with Dr. Carlos Bruno and staff at Southside Pediatrics for the past 16 years.

Sandy’s biggest dream was to be a mother. At the age of 37 she gave birth to her miracle baby, Jeffrey Joseph. Her heart was so full of love and joy, he truly was the bright light of her life and continued to be until her last moments with us on Earth.

She was the most loving Daughter, Mom, Nannie and most important to her heart, Granny. The best of the best, the most amazing of amazing. No one will ever meet a more loving, genuine, compassionate, considerate, non-judgmental, selfless, loving, humble person than Sandy. She lived her life always giving, doing for others, and loving others on a level that words cannot explain. Never putting herself first or even second. To know her was to love her, and she loved everyone whole heartedly back. Sandy will always be remembered as someone who was passionate about her family. Whether it be her animals, raising the kid’s that she thought of as her own, and cooking Sunday lunches so she can get her family together; you’ll always know her heart was in the best place.

She enjoyed playing Bourree with her cousins on Saturday nights, going to the beach yearly, random camping trips that also included fishing, and going to the casino periodically so she could play her nickel and penny machines.

Someone this great was blessed to have those she loved to be with her and always in support of her life’s journey even until her final moment with us. Her biggest reward in life was to be with her family and that’s what she was able to have; never alone.

She is survived by her biological son Jeffrey J. Benoit and his wife Brittany of Broussard; two stepson’s Bryan J. Benoit and his wife Charlene of Youngsville, and Chip Benoit of Carencro; and six grandchildren, Olivia Benoit, Paige Hayes and her husband Thad, Alex Benoit, Brooke Broussard and her husband Bo, Blake Benoit, and Bailey Benoit. Her godchildren Angelique “Angel” Racca and husband Troy, Shane Guilbeau, Jamie Jackson and husband Chad. Great niece and nephew Mckenzi Racca, Jobie LaGrange and Shae Racca. Great- great nieces and nephews Gracelyn, Xzavier, Emilia and Oliver. Sister in-law Sandy Guilbeau. Multiple close cousins Mona Louviere and husband Lennis, Tina Emert and husband Marwin, and Sheila Maturin and many others.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Dallas J. Benoit; her parents, Joseph and Lucy Trahan Guilbeau; her brother, Terry J. Guilbeau; her granddaughter Summer Benoit; and her dear pets Mickey, Mindy, Monique, Buddy, and Graci.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffrey Benoit, Bryan Benoit, Chip Benoit, Dr. Carlos Bruno, Shae Racca, and Shane Guilbeau.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Troy Racca and Blake Benoit.

The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice for their compassion and never-ending help; Joseph Brierre, MD and staff; Dr. Carlos Bruno and staff; along with family and friends who supported Sandy and her family through these trying times.

David Funeral Home of Lafayette at 316 Youngsville Hwy (337)837-9887 will be handling the arrangements.
