New Iberia–A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Curtis Bonin, age 86, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help with Fr. Garrett Savoie. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Rites.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. during the visitation.
Curtis Bonin, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Iberia Medical Center at the age of 86, with is daughter, and grandson by side. Born on August 23, 1937, in Loreauville, Louisiana, to Otto and Levie Bonin, Curtis lived a life marked by dedication and love. After proudly serving his country in the United States Navy for four years, Curtis embarked on a 40-year career as a boiler operator at Morton Salt Company, where he displayed unwavering commitment and expertise in his work.
Throughout his life, Curtis found joy in the simple pleasures, with family always at the center of his heart. He shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Dolores Judice Bonin, and together they raised their cherished daughter, Nancy Bonin. Curtis adored his grandson Tre' and found immense delight in the presence of his great-grandchildren, Kainen and Ryker. A passionate sports enthusiast, Curtis had a special fondness for baseball and football, but it was the spirited games of ladies' softball that truly captivated him. A loyal supporter of LSU, he cheered proudly for his Tigers. Curtis's preference for chocolate cake reflected his appreciation for life's simple pleasures, leaving behind cherished memories of a man who found joy in the company of loved ones and the beauty of everyday moments.
Curtis is survived by his daughter, Nancy Bonin; one sister, Gloria Dugas; grandson, Tre’ Bonin, and two great-grandchildren, Kainen Bonin, and Ryker Bonin.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Dolores Judice Bonin; his parents, Otto, and Levie Bonin.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Tre’ Bonin, Douglas Ardizone, Kenneth Judice, and Brent Dugas.
