Lafayette ~ A Memorial Service for Ayla Jo Bergeaux, 36, will be held at 12:00PM, on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Avery Island, Jungle Gardens.
A native of Opelousas and a resident of Lafayette, Ayla Jo Bergeaux passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
Ayla was always on the go, being productive and staying active. She preferred to be outdoors, enjoying the nature around her. She loved to travel and was always ready to play a round of golf. Working in the hospitality and tourism industry as an event planner, she excelled at her job and had a successful career. Her work ethic and creativity shone through the many venues she managed. Ayla had an infectious sense of humor and was always the life of the party. You could not be around her without having a blast. Even during her illness, she remained positive and had fun. Once, while playing cards with friends, she drew a mustache on her face, only to discover it was permanent marker. She forgot she still had it on and went out later that evening to several places. Embracing that silly mustache, she didn’t let it stop her from having a good time with her friends. Ayla enjoyed her life and loved many things, but nothing compared to the joy she felt in being a mother. Her deep affection for family and friends made a lasting impact, and she will be deeply missed by many.
She is survived by her son, Colten Murphy; her father, Coy Watson; and her sisters, Masi Romero and Hylie Watson.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Pegi Hoyt.
David Funeral Home of Lafayette, 316 Youngsville Hwy., (337) 893-3777, will be handling the arrangements.
