Lafayette– Funeral services will be held for Mr. Alex McLean, 54, on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 3:30PM at David Funeral Home of Lafayette, 316 Youngsville Highway, Lafayette, LA with Pastor Irving Simpson officiating.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 20 from 9:00AM until the time of the service.

Alex was a native of New Brunswick, NJ. He worked on computers in the corporate world for a short time in New York until he decided to spread his wings and become a Truck Driver. He joined his dad for a few years then went cross country and relocated to Houston, TX and started driving in the oilfield. In 2004 he met his wife and together they started their own trucking company in 2009 as he continued his trucking in the oilfield. He also performed several jobs for the Macro Oil Company for relief aid after many hurricanes.
In 2018, along with his wife, he began volunteering for humane societies with the undertaking of search and rescue of animals during and after hurricanes.
Alex was very outgoing. He enjoyed football games with his daughter, rodeos, fishing, and especially cherished the time with his grandson Aedion, his pride and joy. Alex enjoyed driving into sunrises and chasing sunsets with his wife alongside him.
In 2019 he was diagnosed with colon cancer and fought hard for two years. God just had other plans and on March 9 th , 2021 at 8:03PM Alex took his last breath at home with his wife, daughter, and close friends by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra McLean of Carencro; daughter, Heather Williams, and grandson Aedion of Colorado; Adopted son Lyle Melancon of Lafayette; mother, Dorothy Boswell; sister, Robin Thompson; nephew, Paris Thompson; niece, Mya Thompson all of New Brunswick, NJ. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, and cousins, and his Louisiana Trucking Family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alexander McLean, and grandmother, Julia Boswell.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Chucky Bernard, Dusty Jolet, Dickie Turpen, Troy Seaux, Zack Domingue, Trent Alleman, Leslie Issac and Byron Edwards. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ed Burroughs and Heather Williams.
In order to help keep the community safe we will honor all Louisiana Mandates. All families and their guest are required to wear a face covering while at the funeral home. Thank you for your understanding during this unprecedented time.
