Loreauville– It is with great sadness the family of Adam “Coo” J. Crochet would like to announce his passing on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Consolata Nursing Home in New Iberia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Adam “Coo” J. Crochet, age 98, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Barry Crochet as Celebrant. A gathering of friends and family will be held on July 30, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Adam “Coo” Crochet, born February 5, 1926, in Loreauville, Louisiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, July 22, 2024. Known for his deep love of music and his talent with the harmonica, Coo's life was marked by joyous melodies and the warmth of community. He was a dedicated family man, having raised two children with his beloved wife Jeanette Barras, whom he cherished dearly throughout their many years together. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for two years. Coo's professional journey began with a distinguished 35-year career at Mobile Oil Company, where he served as a chef offshore, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues. Even after retiring from Mobile Oil, his entrepreneurial spirit shone through as he established 'Crochet's Name Plates and Signs', a testament to his industrious nature and commitment to hard work. Coo's passion for life extended beyond his work, as he relished spending time with friends, dancing, and embarking on cruises with his favorite musical groups, "Niklbeer" and "Foret Tradition". Coo Crochet will be remembered for his infectious smile, his love of music, and his unwavering dedication to both his family and his community. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Coo is survived by sons, Bryan Crochet (Sue), Kirk Crochet (Janice); grandchildren, Adam Crochet, Luke Crochet, Stacy Crochet, Kelly C. Guilbeau, Christopher Crochet; great-grandchildren, Amelie Crochet, Ava Crochet, Wren Crochet, Asher Crochet, Brian Guilbeau. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette Barras Crochet, his parents, Laurent and Marie Laurence Crochet, and one brother, Christopher Crochet. The family would like to thank the staff of Consolata Nursing Home, Hospice of Acadiana, Garden View, and Iberia Medical Center for all the loving care they shared with Mr. Adam “Coo” Crochet”.
