New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Fred J. Barnett the former Stella Ackal, Age 92 at 11:00AM Monday June 1, 2009 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Father Mike Arnaud officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will be Sunday May 31, 2009 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume Monday from 8:00AM until service time. Readers will be William Dore and Madlyn Boustany. A native and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Barnett died Saturday May 30, 2009 at 1:40AM at her residence in New Iberia. She was owner/operator along with her husband of City Tailors in Odessa, Texas before retiring back home in New Iberia after 35 successful years in business. She was a past member of the Iberia Cancer Society, the Nativity Altar Society and Princess in Miss Iberia Pageant. Survivors include her sisters, Lucille Ackal Powell, Marie Ackal Haik and Elaine Ackal Dore all of New Iberia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Barnett, parents, George and Adele Gabriel Ackal, brothers, William, Louis, Joe and George Ackal, Jr. and a sister Lillian Ackal Johnson. Pallbearers will be Ronnie, Wayne and Louis Ackal, Jr., Richard Johnson, James and Eddie Dore, Hamilton Shaw and Morris Haik, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Warner Powell, Dr. Louis Alvarez, Guyton Watkins and Eddie, Stephen and George Ackal III David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter St., New Iberia, La.
