New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Elier Touchet, the former Mildred Gaspard, 84, of New Iberia will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Reverend Steve LeBlanc will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Miguez Cemetery, Delcambre. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home. Mrs. Touchet passed away on Monday, March 27, 2006 at 3:00 P.M. in a New Iberia care facility. A native of Erath, Mrs. Touchet was a longtime resident of New Iberia. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Mrs. Touchet was a loving person who enjoyed caring for her family and friends. Survivors include her sons, Joseph Touchet and wife, Ann of Islip Terrace, NY and Euray Touchet of New Iberia; daughters, Dianna T. Romero and husband, Gerald of New Iberia, Sally T. Parker and husband, Roger of New Iberia, and Sandy T. Champagne and husband, Henry of Lafayette. Mrs. Touchet is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceding Mrs. Touchet in death are her husband, Elier Touchet; parents, Louis and Cornelia Marie Brown Gaspard; daughters, Earline T. Landry and Geraldine T. Bourque; brothers, Odras, Otis, Oscar, and Oday Gaspard; and sisters, Margaret Hebert, Bertha Renard, Rose Bourque, and Elizabeth OMin. Serving as pallbearers are Joseph Touchet, Euray Touchet, Jamie Parker, Jobie Landry, Dusty Champagne, and Joel Champagne. David Funeral Home of New Iberia has been entrusted with handling arrangements.
