New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Nelton Bro Lancon, 73, of Grand Marais on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 3:00 P.M. in St. Peter Catholic Church. The Reverend Jude Halphen will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 from 11:00 A.M. until service time on Wednesday in David Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Mr. Lancon died at 1:40 P.M. on Monday, March 27, 2006 in a Lafayette hospital. A native of New Iberia and lifelong resident of Iberia Parish, Mr. Lancon was a United States Army veteran. He retired from the Postal Service where he worked for many years as a letter carrier. After retirement from the post office, Mr. Lancon worked at Legnons Meat Market. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and passed the collection basket. Mr. Lancon was an avid fisherman, and he enjoyed playing the slot machines at the casino. Survivors include his daughter, Delina L. Lafont and husband, Brent of New Iberia; son, Carroll Lancon of Grand Marais; sisters, Illa Mae Breaux and husband, Michael of Woodville, TX and Rose Breaux of New Iberia; brothers, Hansel Lancon, Sr. and wife, Liz and Leslie Lancon and wife, Dean, all of New Iberia; grandchildren, April Norris and husband, Cody of Georgetown, KY, Chase Louviere of Loreauville, and Dylan Lafont of New Iberia; and great-grandchildren, Haley and Cody Norris, Jr. of Georgetown, KY. Preceding Mr. Lancon in death are his former wife, Marilyn Johnson Lancon; parents, Willis Lancon, Sr. and Lillian Derouen Lancon; daughter, Cindy L. Louviere; brothers, Willis Lancon, Jr., Clarence Lancon, Dudley Lancon, Mervin Lancon, and Dempsy Lancon; and sisters, Alberta Thibodeaux, Louella LeBlanc, Nell Arcement, and Mary Gaudin. Serving as pallbearers are Ted Legnon, Bert Boudreaux, Leslie Lancon, Carroll Lancon, Preston Tenney, Blaine Breaux, and Mike Breaux. David Funeral Home of New Iberia has been entrusted with handling arrangements.
