DELCAMBRE - Services for Melvin Black Joseph Duhon, 81, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Voohries officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be observed Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at David Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 8 a.m. until the time of service.
A native of Cow Island and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Duhon died at 10:20 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2006, at a local hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Domingue Duhon of New Iberia; nine children, Johnny Duhon of Lafayette, Mary Katherine Duhon of Texas, Kerney Duhon and wife Mary of New Iberia, Connie Duhon Laviolette and husband Calvin of Erath, Dean Duhon and wife Tessie, Daniel Duhon and wife Sherry, all of New Iberia, Tammy Duhon Landry and husband Timmy of Delcambre, David Duhon and wife Michelle, and Darren Duhon and wife Tessie, all of New Iberia; four sisters, Hilda Duhon Stelly of New Iberia, Margie Duhon Derise of Delcambre, Rita Duhon McDonald and Ruiby Duhon McDonald; a brother, Eugene Duhon Jr., all of New Iberia; 29 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Duhon was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Duhon Sr. and Elzear Chauvin Broussard; a brother, Cleveland Duhon; and a sister, Audry Duhon Groff.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Laviolette, Brandon Duhon, Chad Duhon, Tristan Landry, Ross Duhon and Nicholas Duhon.
Honorary pallbearer will be Chris Laviolette.
David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of the arrangements.
