NEW IBERIA " A service remembering the life of Renee Russo Miley, 48 will be conducted at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Teche Catholic Church with the Rev. Steve LeBlanc, dear family friend and pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery in Jeanerette.
Visiting hours will be observed Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at David Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 8:00 AM until the time of service.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Miley died at 6:15 AM Sunday, December 24, 2006, at her residence with her loving family at her side.
Renee was a 1976 graduate of New Iberia Senior High and a 1981 graduate of USL, where she received her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. Renee was a loving and dedicated third grade teacher at North Street Elementary in New Iberia for 25 years having retired in 2006. She was a lector and Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart of Jesus of the Teche where she was also active in Teen Mission Youth Ministry, Parents for Life Ministry and a member of Roses of the Lamb Intercessory Prayer Group. Renee was also a past president of Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority for educators.
She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends, who meant everything to her, and also by the many lives she touched through her parenting and teaching.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Mark H. Miley of New Iberia; parents, Ernest Roy Ernie Russo Sr. and Lucy Viator Russo of New Iberia; a daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Miley of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a son, Alex Russo Miley of New Iberia; a brother, Ernest Corky Russo Jr. and wife Holly of Stonewall; a brother-in-law, Mark B. Dubroc of Lafayette; a sister, Ellen R. Gary and husband Dr. Wayne J. Gary II of Lafayette; a cousin, April G. Byrom and husband Richie, who Renee looked upon as a sister; godmother, Charlene V. Guillot; godfather, Jasper Russo; father and mother-in-law, M. H. and Inona C. Miley of New Iberia; a brother-in-law, Michael Miley and wife Mary of Lafayette; two nephews, Michael Colton Miley and wife Amelia, and William Gary; nine nieces, Victoria, Elise and Gabrielle Dubroc, Emily, Sydney and Anna Claire Russo, Caroline, Elizabeth and Olivia Gary; two cousins, Blake and Avery Byrom; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Renee was preceded in death by her sister, Jacqueline R. Dubroc of Lafayette.
Pallbearers will be Alex Russo Miley, Corky Russo, Michael Miley, Mark Dubroc, Dr. Wayne Gary II and Richie Byrom.
Honorary pallbearers will be Timmy Broussard, Blake Byrom and Lee Breaux.
