New Iberia- Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 10 am at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for Gladys Bourque, 86. The Rev. Barry Crochet will conduct the funeral service with burial to follow at the church cemetery. The family requests that visitation be observed Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 2 pm till 9pm and reopen Wednesday, from 8 am till time of service. A rosary will be prayed Tuesday evening at 7pm at David Funeral Home in New Iberia. Gladys was a native and resident of Coteau, Louisiana. She was born on September 13, 1920 and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2006 at 7 pm at Belle Teche Nursing Home in New Iberia. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau, La. She is survived by a daughter, Earline DeSoto and her husband Bill of Coteau, LA; two grand daughters, Suzanne DeSoto Thevis and her husband Charles of New Iberia, LA, and Angela DeSoto of New Iberia, LA; and five great grandchildren, Stephanie Elizabeth Castille of Lafayette, LA, Jarrett Nicholas Castille of Coteau, LA, Emilee Victoria DeSoto, Brannan Nicholas Lowe, and Eryn Adair Lowe, all of New Iberia, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stephen J. Bourque, her father Sylvan Melancon, and her mother, Aline Viator Melancon. Serving as pallbearers will be Jarrett Castille, Tony Melancon, Carrol Melancon, Tyler Melancon, Wilfred Bourque, Ricky Lopez. Gift bearers for the funeral mass will be Gladys grand daughters, Suzanne D. Thevis and Angela DeSoto.
