Services for Adiole A. J. Provost, 90, will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 13, 2006, in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Langlanais officiating. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will begin on Friday, May 12, 2006, at 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM and resume on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at 9:00 AM until services. A rosary service will be held on Friday evening at 7:00 PM. Mr. Provost died on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at 7:10 PM at his residence. When he was 5 or 6 he went to work delivering dinners to workers at the E.P. Folse Plant. At the age of 7 he started to do delivery service for some local pharmacies like Taylors Drug Store and Khan Drug Store. This was done on a bicycle. From the time that he was 14 he worked for the Western Union and the Postal Telegraph Office doing different jobs as needed. He did that kind of work for over 40 years. Around 1974 he went to work as the Executive Director of the United Givers Fund, which is now The United Way. He retired at the age of 77. He is survived by three sons, Gayle Provost and his wife Joyce of New Iberia, Kyle Provost and his wife Judy of Leesville, LA and Howard Provost and his wife Phyllis of Church Point, LA; two daughters, Suzanne Provost Kelly of New Iberia and Katheleen Provost Swinney and her husband Leonard Butch Swinney of Ridgeland, MS; 13 grandchildren, John Provost of Sunset, LA, Eric Provost of Houston, TX, Patrick Provost of Phoenix, AZ, Daniel White of Baton Rouge, LA, Ina White Byrd of Brandon, MS, Trish Shannon and Dede Woods of Madison, MS, Season Provost of New Orleans, LA, Aja Kirksey of San Francisco, CA, Sylvia Madajewski, Thurman T. J. White, Bernice White Slaughter and Nicole White Desormeaux all of New Iberia. Also sixteen great grandchildren Brittanie Terrell, Courtney Terrell, Mollie Woods and Rebecca Woods all of Madison, MS, Airman First Class Jeremy Ryan Byrd of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Michael Byrd of Brandon, MS, Dane Etie, Kayleigh Etie, Kyle Provost, Val Slaughter, Christopher Slaughter, Megan Desormeaux, Brynn White, Brian Kelly, Desiree Melancon and Kayla White all of New Iberia; and two great great grandchildren, Reece Bernard and MaKelle Kelly of New Iberia. Mr. Provost was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne Dugas Provost, his parents, Euzebe and Blanche Broussard Provost and numerous brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Gayle Provost, Eric Provost, Thurman T. J. White, Daniel White, Val Slaughter and Airman First Class Jeremy Byrd. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Slaughter, Michael Byrd and Brian Kelly. The family would like to thank Mrs. Joyce Broussard, AAA Home Health, AAA Hospice, Iberia Council On Aging, Mrs. Gayle Johnson, Mrs. Trisha Romero and all of the sitters that have helped with the care of our loved one.
