Joe Max Shockley

January 19, 1928 — July 13, 2006

New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Joe Max Pop Joe Shockley, age 78, at 2:00PM Monday July 17, 2006 at David Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia. Private interment will follow at a later date. A rosary will be recited at 11:00AM Monday in the funeral home. Visitation will begin Monday July 17, 2006 from 10:00AM till service time. He died Thursday July 13, 2006 at 9:27AM at a local hospital. A native of Wablo, Missouri he had been a resident of New Iberia for many years. He held many jobs in the oilfield and he served 17 years in the U.S. Navy. He was a very loving Father, Brother and Grandfather. He is survived by a son Michael Lee Shockley, Sr. and fiance Mel Duplantis of New Iberia. Sister Betty S. Stout of Ohio. Four grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Suire, Faith Michelle Suire, Michelle Lee Suire and Michael Lee Shockley, Jr. all of New Iberia. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Claylie Badeaux , his parents Warren and Alma Brinegar Shockley , a brother and sister Cecil Shockley and Georgia S. Smart. Pallbearers will be Michael Shockley,Sr.,Michael Shockley,Jr., Shawn Domingue, Armond Poirrier, Mark Stout and Bobby Spivey. David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
