Cora Mitchell

February 14, 1925 — August 23, 2006

Loreauville- A Rite of Christian Burial will be conducted for Cora Coco Mitchell, Age 81, at 1:00PM on Saturday August 26, 2006 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Loreauville with Father Mario Romero officiating. Interment will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery. Visitation will begin Saturday from 8:00AM till time of service at Our Lady of Victory Church. A rosary will be recited at 11:00AM at Church by the Ladies Altar Society and members of the Church. She died Wednesday at 11:35PM at a Jeanerette Nursing Home. Miss Cora was a native of Loreauville born on February 14, 1925. She was a resident of Maison Teche Nursing Center in Jeanerette for the past five months. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Loreauville. In May 2003 she was named Angel of Our Church . She was deeply devoted to the rosary and recited it often. Miss Cora helped many families in Loreauville especially Mr. And Mrs. Leonard Ransonet. She remained with Mrs. Adele for 54 years until Mrs. Adeles death in 1988. She then helped the family care for Mrs. Jennie Ransonet until Mrs. Jennies death in 1998. During all this time she helped Mrs. Lillian R. Gonsoulin and her family. Cora truly cared for all the Ransonet and Gonsoulin children and grandchildren. In the past few years Miss Cora spent most of her afternoons visiting her beloved neighbor and stepmother Josephine Mitchell and half sister Carolyn Wysner. She also loved visiting her sister Alice. Survivors include two sisters Alice Davis and husband Roger of Loreauville and Theresa Antoine of Orange, Texas. Stepmother Josephine Mitchell of Loreauville, Three half sisters, Carolyn M. Wysner of Loreauville, Sally M. Levine of New Iberia and Virginia M. Thompson. Three half brothers, Paul Mitchell and wife Debra and Thomas Mitchell of St. Martinville and Gilbert Mitchell and wife Beverly of New Iberia. She was preceded in death by her parents Stanley Joseph Duke Mitchell and Rose Vital Mitchell, sisters, Odile M. Archangel, Alice M. McGlorie and Edith M. Davis, nephews, Peter McGlorie, Peter, John, Alvin and Riss Davis, Nelson and Charles Antoine. Miss Coras friend and caregiver for the past 12 years, Linda R. Clifton, wishes to thank Dr. Agapito Castro and staff, Iberia Rehabilitation and staff especially Jackie Gregoire, the staff of Maison Teche Nursing Center, Journey Hospice and Miss Coras neighbors and family who were always available to her when she needed them. A special thank you to Ms. Juanita Dore and Ms. Michelle Mckaskle of Maison Teche. Your loving care and concern for Miss Cora was exceptional. Cora will be remembered for her constant smile, her willingness to help and her gratitude for everything that was done for her. Readers will be Terrell Dressel, Sr. and Jean Toepher. Gift bearers are Carolyn Wysner, Linda R. Clifton and Leona Davis. Pallbearers will be Gilbert Mitchell, Jimmy Clifton, Curlis Vital, Buddy Ransonet, Henry Davis, Jr. and James Clifton, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul and Thomas Mitchell, Terry Dressel, Jr., Michael and Brad Clifton, Scott, Todd amd Chris Ransonet, Jeff, Bill, James and Jim Gonsoulin, Michael, Kevin, Kyle and Ben Farrar, Justin and Jason Moreau, Gerard and Neales Riche. Our Lady of Victory Choir will provide music. David Funeral Home of Loreauville is in charge of arrangements.
