NEW IBERIA - Services for Mrs. Richard Bourgeois, the former Eloise Laviolette, 79, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2006 at David Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Entombment will follow in St. John Mausoleum in Jeanerette.
Visiting hours will be observed Sunday, July 23, 2006 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at David Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Monday, July 24, 2006 at 8 a.m. until the time of service.
A native of St. Martinville and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Bourgeois died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006, at her sons residence in Crowley.
Mrs. Bourgeois was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, rug making and had a green thumb.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard J. Bourgeois, and David L. Bourgeois and wife Kelly, all of Crowley; a sister, Evelyn Landry of St. Martinville; a grandchild, David Bryce Bourgeois of Crowley; another grandchild expected in February; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Bourgeois was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Bourgeois; parents, Selivan Laviolette Sr. and Eudolie Trahan Laviolette;five sisters, Virginia Johnson, Effie L. Tabor, Marie L. Tabor, Felicie L. Albert and Editha L. Gonsoulin; and six brothers, Selivan Laviolette Jr., Luke, Odebert, Gilbert, Antoine and Adam Laviolette.
Pallbearers will be friends and family members.
David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of the arrangements.
