Jeanerette"A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rose Mary Derouen Fontenette, 73, on Monday, March 6, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Thomas Mullally will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 5, 2006 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M., with a rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home of Jeanerette. Visitation will resume in the funeral home on Monday from 8:00 A.M. until 9:30 P.M. A native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Fontenette died on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 5:31 P.M. at Arizona Heart Hospital after a long battle with diabetes. Mrs. Fontenette is survived by two loving children, Mary Rose Fontenette Carbajal of Scottsdale, AZ and Keith Joseph Fontenette of Jeanerette. She is also survived by two grandchildren whom she loved and cherished dearly, Nadia Maria Carbajal and Matthew Christopher Carbajal of Scottsdale, AZ; a devoted son-in-law, Joe Carbajal of Bagdad, AZ; a sister, Theresa Derouen Jones of Pearland, TX; and one sister-in-law, Jeanette Fontenette Manuel and husband, George, Jr. of Jeanerette; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding Mrs. Fontenette in death are her husband, Llewellyn J. Fontenette; her parents, Thomas Toma Derouen and Mary A. Derbigny; two sisters, Janice Derouen Kuykendall and Agnes Derouen Broussard; and one nephew, Seward Pic Jones, Jr. Serving as pallbearers will be Nathaniel Broussard, Sr., Seward Broussard, Sr., Peter Broussard, Jr., Gregory Broussard, Andre Kuykendall, Daniel Ellis, II, Gerald Fruge, Sr., and Clyde Tauriac.
