Ernest Poirrier

New Iberia- Funeral Services will be conducted for Ernest Boone Poirrier, Age 92, at 2:00PM Wednesday August 23, 2006 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Coteau. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00PM till 9:00PM with a Rosary at 6:30PM and resume Wednesday from 8:00AM till time of service.

Boone was caretaker for many years at the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival Building and the Veterans Memorial Building. He also worked for many years at The Jefferson Island Salt Mine and was a jailer for the New Iberia City Police. He was a longtime volunteer at St. Francis Diner and was loved by everyone.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years the former Gussie Badeaux of New Iberia. Sons, Ulysse Tonkin Poirier, Sr. and Eugene Gene Poirrier and wife Adele of New Iberia, Daughter, Eula Beb Walker and husband Elton of New Iberia, Sons, Uwell Poirrier and wife Patricia of Carencro and Uray Poirrier and wife Jeannie of Lafayette. Sisters, Willa P. Romero and Iris Poirrier and brother Everson Butch Poirrier all of New Iberia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Ulysse and Anita Touchet Poirrier, brothers, Eddie, Harrison, Harrington, and Whitney Poirrier and sisters Inez P. Dutile and Edia LaLulle Viator, daughter-in-law Rena M. Poirrier and grandson Eric Poirrier and great-grandson Tyler Walker.

Pallbearers will be Ulysse J. Poirrier, Sr.; Eugene Gene Poirrier, Uwell Poirrier, Uray Poirrier, Elton Walker, Ricky Poirrier, and Troy Poirrier, Sr. Honorary Pallbearers, Kent Walker and Neal and Kevin Poirrier.
