LafayetteFuneral Services were held Friday, September 8, 2006 for Katherine Kathy Reed, 52, who went to be with the Lord on September 5, 2006 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. Interment was at Green Cemetery in Cow Island.

Kathy had a zest for life and was very successful in her profession. She was an employee of the State of Louisiana for 33 years, with her last position being Regional Manager. She loved to travel and enjoyed the numerous different places she visited. Kathy was also past president of Louisiana Medicaid Employees Association.

Kathy is survived by her parents William and Anna Vincent Reed; Sisters, Lorraine Romero and her husband Delfred, of Henry, La.; Eva Callahan and her husband Jeb, of Cow Island, La.; Dena Henderson and her husband Robert, of Lafayette, La.; her special godchild Ashley Henderson, of Lafayette, La. Kathy was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy also had numerous friends who will mourn her loss.

Kathy was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; Henry Reed and Elizia Stelly Reed; maternal grandparents; Emery Vincent, Sr. and Adella Hebert Vincent.

The family would like to give thanks to; Dr. Robert Fell; Dr. Giles Fort and his staff; the Oncology Staff at Womens Hospital in Baton Rouge; Dr. Karen Roden and the staff of LA Oncology Associates; the Oncology Staff at Lafayette General Hospital; Hospice of Acadiana; especially Laurie Young; Camryn Bear Bell with whom Kathy (GeGe) developed a special bond; and her dearest and closest friend, Carol Stephens, for the care, comfort and compassion given to Kathy during her lengthy illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kathys memory to Hospice of Acadiana or St. Judes Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.

Pallbearers will be Reid Romero, Chad Romero, Sean Romero, Sheb Callahan, Craig Callahan and Robert Henderson.
