Richard John Moore

New Iberia"A memorial service celebrating the life of Richard John Moore, 60, of New Iberia will be held on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 6:00 P.M. in Faith Cathedral. Officiating will be Bishop Drew Rousse.

Mr. Moore passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 6:03 P.M. in a New Orleans hospital.

A native of Opelousas and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Moore was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a graduate of Beacon University, where he earned an associate degree in theology. Mr. Moore loved the Lord with all his heart and was a member of Faith Cathedral. He was at one time a salesman in the oilfield equipment business, and in his spare time enjoyed rebuilding computers, boats, and fishing.

Surviving to cherish Mr. Moores memory are his daughters, Virginia Caldwell and husband, Charlie of Shreveport, and Jill Champagne of Lafayette; sons, Richard Allan Moore and wife, Ruth of New Iberia, and Jonathan A. Moore and wife, Julia of New Iberia; brother, Bill E. Moore and wife, Camille of Lafayette; sister, Susan Sonnier and husband, Lee J. Skip ; and 15 grandchildren.

Preceding Mr. Moore in death are his parents, Elmer L. and Gloria Dunbar Moore; and a brother, Ralph D. Moore.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
