Lafayette- Funeral services will be held Monday, September 18, 2006 at 2 PM at St. Anne Catholic Church for Daimon Brent Stroderd, 38. The Rev. Matthew Higginbotham will officiate the funeral mass and will be assisted by deacon Cody Miller. Interment will follow the mass at St. Anne Church Cemetery in Youngsville.
Daimon was born in Abbeville, La. on August 27, 1968 and went to be with the Lord Friday, September 15, 2006 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette. One of the greatest pleasures in life for Daimon was spending time with his children as he and his daughter, Samantha helped coach his son, Spencers, track and soccer team at Youngsville Middle School. He graduated from Comeaux High School in 1986 where he and his classmates will be celebrating their 20th year reunion in October during Comeaux High School Homecoming. Cooking special meals for his many friends brought great joy to Daimon.
He is survived by his wife, Angie Babineaux Stroderd of Broussard; his daughter, Samantha Stroderd of Broussard, La.,who is 16 years old and a son, Spencer Stroderd of Broussard, who is 14 years old and both are presently attending Comeaux High School; his father, Winston Stroderd of Broussard, and mother, Beverly Seilhan Stroderd of Broussard; a brother David Stroderd and his wife Janine of Broussard, La.; Davids children, who are Daimons nephews Joshua Stroderd, and Ethan Stroderd, and his neice, Jordan Stroderd, all of Broussard, LA; his paternal grandmother Mary Ena Stroderd of Basile, LA, Angies parents, Bill and Rita Babineaux of Sulphur, LA; a brother-in-law, Adam Babineaux of Sulphur, LA, and a hosts of friends who stood by Daimon.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Elson Stroderd, Sr, his maternal grandparents Allen and Catherine Seilhan, and Angies grandparents, Ovey Sr. and Lydia Babineaux.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Stroderd, Spencer Stroderd, Joshua Stroderd, Brad Vincent, Bryan Fuqua, Seth Stroderd, Trent Landry, and Corey Stroderd. Readers will be Sandra Meyers and Karen Hays. Gift bearers will be Paul and Daniellle LeBlanc. Music will be provided by Lee Sam Seilhan.
The family requests that visitation be observed Sunday, September 17, 2006 from 10 AM till 9 PM and continue Monday from 8 AM till time of service. A rosary will be prayed Sunday evening at 7 PM by Deacon Cody Miller.
