NEW IBERIA - A Mass of Christian Burial for William Walsh Billy Broussard, 80, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at St. Peters Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Langlois officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Peters Catholic Cemetery. Visiting hours will be observed Tuesday, September 19, 2006 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at David Funeral Home. A native and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Broussard died at 12:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, in Lafayette. A loving husband, father and grandfather with a zest for life, Mr. Broussards optimism and kindness are reflected in the personalities of his children. Always the teacher, his hobbies and pastimes such as fishing, camping and woodworking and his quickness to lend a helping hand were avenues used to pass on experience and knowledge. His strong work ethic and dedicated service to the oil industry was evidenced by his 30 years of employment with Schlumberger Well Services. Mr. Broussard was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. His devout Catholic faith and trust in the Lord guided him his entire life on the road to his eternal reward. A review of this good life lived gives his family great comfort and consolation. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Robichaux Broussard of New Iberia; four sons, Bill Broussard of Baton Rouge, Marc Broussard and wife Elizabeth of Maurice, John Broussard and wife Faith of Kingwood, Texas, and Matt Broussard and wife Meleesa of Lafayette; two daughters, Janet B. Couvillon and husband Lawrence of Lafayette, and Judette B. Crisman and husband Gene of Beaumont, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Emmet Froisy and Mrs. Claude Cestia, both of New Iberia; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Broussard was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Daphis Broussard and Sarah Walsh Broussard; a brother, J.D. Broussard; two sisters, Janet Broussard and Wilda LeJeune; and three grandchildren, Jason Mallett, Andre and Henri Broussard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Broussards name to Catholic High School, 1301 de La Salle Drive, New Iberia LA 70560.
