Louis Richard

Loving husband and father Memorial services for Louis Richard, 83, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2006, at David Funeral Home with Deacon Jimmy Wilson officiating. Inurnment will follow with military graveside rites conducted at Holy Family Cemetery. Visiting hours will be observed Friday, August 11, 2006 from noon until the time of service at David Funeral Home. A native of St. Martinville and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Richard died Monday, August 07, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Richard was a loving father and husband. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star for World War II. Mr. Richard taught ROTC at LSU in the mid 1950s. He retired from the United States Air Force with 21 years of service. He later retired from Louisiana State Civil Service. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Royal Order in Hole in One Shooters. After retiring, Mr. Richard volunteered as a tax preparer for the elderly and indigent and assisted students at North Lewis Elementary School with reading. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Lillie Louviere Richard of New Iberia; a daughter, Penny E. Richard of Lafayette; two brothers, Lester Richard of New Iberia and Howard Richard and wife Irene of Loreauville; and a sister, Lily Richard Myers of Loreauville. Mr. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar J. and Delia Lecamus Richard; a sister, Ledie Richard Legnon; and a brother, Lloyd Richard. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Richard, Ronnie Prioux, Christopher Prioux, Joey Davis, Lester Jay and David Soileau. David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of the arrangements.
