LOVING WIFE, MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, AND SISTER Jeanerette"A funeral service for Mrs. Whitney Derouen, the former Delta Gary, 92, of Franklin and formerly of Jeanerette will be held on Friday, September 1, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Ed Degeyter will serve as officiant. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Pautoutville. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, 2006 from 9:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home, with a rosary to be recited at 11:00 A.M. Mrs. Derouen passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 5:25 P.M. in a Franklin care facility. A native of Iberia Parish, Mrs. Derouen was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was a former resident of Maison Teche Nursing Home, where she was a member of the Nursing Home Rosary Group, and where she was named Mardi Gras Queen. Mrs. Derouen loved to dance and to visit with her friends and family, all of whom would agree that to know her was to love her. Survivors include grandsons, Lynn Derouen and wife, Jamie of Lafayette and Walter J. Derouen, Jr. of New Iberia; granddaughters, Wendy Klenzman and husband, Walter of Alvin, TX, Sandy Warren and husband, Kenneth of Lafayette, and Donna Jeansonne and husband, Clay of Houston, TX; sisters, Corrine G. Albert of Jeanerette, Lucille Gauthier of Texas, and Clara Dooley and husband, Black of Jeanerette; daughter-in-law, Gladys Derouen of New Iberia; and special friend, Velma Williams of Jeanerette. Preceding Mrs. Derouen in death are her husband, Whitney Pock Derouen; parents, Sidney and Cora Hebert Gary; son, Walter Little Pock Derouen, Sr.; sisters, Georgina Gary, Georgette Arton, and Cora Guillotte; and brothers, Joseph, George, Octave, Lawless, Charley, Sidney, Leroy, and Elton Gary. Serving as pallbearers are friends and family of Mrs. Derouen. David Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.
