New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mark Howard Segura, Age 47, at 3:00PM Wednesday October 11, 2006 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Father Mario Romero officiating. Interment will be in Nativity Mausoleum. A rosary will be recited at 7:00PM Tuesday in the funeral home.Visitation will begin Tuesday October 10, 2006 from 3:00PM till 9:00PM and again Wednesday from 8:00AM till service time.

A native of New Iberia Mark had been a resident of Alexandria for several years. Mark was a avid sports fan. In 1976 he was outstanding basketball player in Iberia Parish and was also Valedictorian of his graduating class at Catholic High School. Gov. Kathleen Blanco has appointed Mark H. Segura, P.E. to the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board effective Jan. 27, 2006. He will serve the board for a term of six years. Mr. Segura was born in New Iberia, La. on November 26, 1958 and graduated from Catholic High School in 1976. Mr. Segura received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (magna cum laude) from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in December 1984. He received a Certificate of Engineering Management from Louisiana State University in 1993, and completed the Council for a Better Louisiana "Leadership Louisiana" Program in 1999. Mr. Segura received the Advanced Management Certificate from Harvard University in 2002. Mr. Segura began his engineering career in December 1984 as an associate engineer with Cleco Corporation in Pineville, La. He became a registered professional electrical engineer in the state of Louisiana in June 1991. While working at Cleco, Mr. Segura has held several engineering and management positions, including Distribution System Protection Engineer, Transmission System Protection Engineer, Distribution Operations Engineer, Supervisor - Distribution Engineering, Manager - Stores and Transformer Management, General Manager - Distribution Services, Vice President - Distribution Services, and Vice President - Energy Transmission & Distribution. He is currently Vice President - Transmission & Distribution Services. Mr. Segura was a member of the board of directors of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry from 1999 - 2003, serving on the executive committee of the board in 2003. Since 1984, he has been a member of the Louisiana Engineering Society, and he participates in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers. Mr. Segura has served on the board of directors of the Southeastern Electric Exchange since 1999, and he has served on the board of directors of the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana since 2000. He replaces Bob 1. Green, P.E., on the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board.

Survivors include his parents Gateson and Elaine Breaux Segura of New Iberia, daughter Shannon Segura and fiancee Donnie Williams of Alexandria , son Brant Segura and fiancee Jenny Smith of Winston Salem, North Carollina, granddaughter Grayson Williams of Alexandria, brothers Scott Segura and wife Joyce of Scott, La. and Patrick Segura and wife Chris of New Iberia, sisters Susan Segura hammer and husband Bruce of Lafayette and Sally Segura Bourque and husband Paul of New Iberia, Marks fiance Angella Romero and her children, Corey and Amy Romero and her grandchild Landon Romero all of Alexandria , Marks former wife Donna Hebert Segura of Alexandria and his best friend Frankie Rasberry of Lecompte. Survivors also include numerous neices and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations are to be made to The Catholic High Endowment Fund per family request.
