New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Nolan Joseph Meche, 71, of New Iberia will be celebrated on Friday, August 18, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2006 from 4:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.

Mr. Meche passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 9:10 A.M. in his New Iberia residence.

A native of Arnaudville, Mr. Meche was a longtime New Iberia resident. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Mr. Meche was a crane operator with Maloney-Crawford (later Allen Tank) for over 30 years, and he enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He was an honest man whose word was his bond, and he expected the same from those he dealt with.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Audrey Stelly Meche of New Iberia; sons, Danny Meche and wife, Dee of New Iberia and Michael Meche and wife, Mary of Ville Platte; daughter, Angie Meche Badeaux and husband, Todd of New Iberia; grandchildren, Mandy Scardino and husband, Frank of Lafayette, Jenny Comeaux and husband, Michael of Lafayette, Nicholas Meche of Breaux Bridge, Jessica Meche of Oberlin, Michael Warren of Dallas, TX, Michelle, Alyssa, and Trey Meche of Ville Platte, and Amber and Baylei Badeaux of New Iberia; and great-grandchildren, Ronnie, Ashtyn, and Sofia.

Preceding Mr. Meche in death are his parents, Cyrus J. and Lucy Arnaud Meche; a brother, Newton Mac Meche; and a sister, Majorie Quebodeaux.

Serving as pallbearers are Danny Meche, Michael Meche, Todd Badeaux, Nicholas Meche, Carl Meche, and Glenn Quebodeaux.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
