Jeanerette"A memorial service for Gerald Jerry Broussard, 49, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 30, 2006 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Reverend Ed. Degeyter will officiate. A native and resident of Jeanerette, Jerry died on Friday, September 22, 2006 at 10:50 A.M. at the home of Karl and Lynn Viator after a courageous battle with liver cancer. He was a graduate of U.S.L. and was employed with the State of Louisiana in New Iberia as a mental health counselor. His interests included U.S.L. football, antiques, garage sales, art, and gardening. Jerry touched the lives of all he met and will be sadly missed. His smile and the beauty he shared will be remembered always, and he will be waiting at the gates of heaven to greet us all. He is survived by one son, whom he loved, admired, and in whom he had much pride. Samuel Dewey John Viator is currently attending U.L.L. and majoring in mechanical engineering, and is engaged to Lisa Robertson. Special friends include Lynn Viator, her husband, Karl, and their two children, Adam and Maria; and Cheryl Ridge, her husband, Billie, and their two children, Ian and Rusty. He is also survived by his mother, Lurline Broussard; sisters, Barbara Matthews and husband, Randy and their three children, Brooks, Jamie, and Melissa, and Peggy Wilcox and husband, Ray and their two children, Kimberly and Kristen; and a brother, Larry Broussard and wife, Phyllis and their three children, Brandon, Danielle, and Cody. Preceding him in death are his father, John Big John Broussard, Sr.; and his brother, John Broussard, Jr. A special thanks to Larry Broussard for the help, love, and care that he gave to his brother; Mrs. Clare Fitzpatrick for her love and comfort and for opening her home for a time of reflection immediately following the memorial service; Mrs. Shirley Bessard for the loving care that she gave to Jerry and for the humor she always shared; and to the many, to numerous to mention, thank you all for the helping to make Jerrys last months memorable.
