Jeanerette"Funeral services for Mrs. Jacque Derouen, the former Mary Mae LeBlanc, 89, will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Reverend Jesu Raphinam will officiate. Entombment will follow in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 from 2:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Sunday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.
Mrs. Derouen passed away on Friday, January 16, 2009 at 4:30 A.M. in a New Iberia hospital.
A native of Patoutville and longtime resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Derouen was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, going to the casino, and cooking, but her greatest joy was being with and caring for her family.
Survivors include her son, Alcee John Derouen and wife, Bernadette of Websterville; daughter, Marian Derouen Dartez and husband, Dean of New Iberia; brothers, Silton LeBlanc and wife, Mary of Charenton and Melvin LeBlanc of Jeanerette; grandchildren, Jacque Derouen and wife, Jennifer of Jeanerette, Jordan Derouen and wife, Josette of Catahoula, Donovan Derouen and wife, Vanessa of New Iberia, Ron Derouen of New Iberia, Ben Dartez and wife, Rosalyn of Catahoula, Marcus Dartez and fianc, Amanda of New Iberia, Rusty Dartez and wife, Heather of New Iberia, Rebecca Guilbeau of New Iberia, Aleta Tootie Duhon of New Iberia, Anita Breaux of New Iberia, R.P. Boutte and wife, Tricia of New Iberia, Bridgette Boutte of New Iberia, Edmond Racca of Jeanerette, Pam Racca of Jeanerette, Tony Mata, Jr. and wife, Wyndi of Katy, TX, Ross Mata and wife, Makoka of San Diego, CA, and Corey Mata of Websterville; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Mrs. Derouen in death were her husband, Jacque Derouen; parents, Elie and Agnes Gary LeBlanc; sons, Elie Derouen and Ronald Derouen; brothers, Vernice LeBlanc, Sr., Milton LeBlanc, Paul Hardy LeBlanc, and St. Paul LeBlanc; and sisters, Emeritte St. Germaine, Edith Legnon, Bula Mae Derouen, Ella Mae Picard, and Dorene Eskind.
Serving as pallbearers are Jacque Derouen, Jordan Derouen, Donovan Derouen, Ron Derouen, Ben Dartez, Marcus Dartez, and Rusty Dartez. Named as honorary pallbearers are Edmond Racca, R.P. Boutte, Tony Mata, Jr., Ross Mata, and Corey Mata.
