James Rook Stewart Lafayette " Funeral services celebrating and honoring the life of James Rook Richard Stewart, 45 will be conducted Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 10 AM at David Funeral Home Chapel in Lafayette. Pastor Barry Bishop and Rev. Kenneth Budendorff will conduct the service with burial to follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Abbeville. James was born in Kaplan, Louisiana on December 20, 1960 and went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 9, 2006 at Lafayette General Medical Center. James graduated from Abbeville High School in 1978, then he served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church Choir in Youngsville, and he attended Our Saviors Church in Lafayette. One of James greatest passions in life was cooking for his family and his friends. James will be forever remembered by his friends and family as a person who had a zest for life, a person who loved deeply his wife, Debra and his family, and L.S.U.s greatest and most devoted fan. For James his dogs were more than simply pets, they were truly his companions. As a young boy, James served as an altar server at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Abbeville. He is survived by his loving wife of seventeen years, Debra Hurst Stewart of Youngsville; his mother, Anna Louise Gilbert Stewart of Scott; a daughter, Brandy Stewart of Minnesota; three sisters, Donna Flowers of Scott, Rena Johnson and her husband Danny of Minnetonka, Minn, and Tonya Leger of Houma; his father in Law, Larry Hurst and mother In Law, Kathlyn Hurst, both of Lafayette; three aunts, Francis Gilbert and her husband Bobby of Shreveport, Marcel Alexander of Vivian, LA, and Jane Clark of Georgia. He is also survived by five nephews and one niece. He is preceded in death by his father James Ray Stewart and one neice. The family requests that visitation be observed Friday, October 13, 2006 from 3 PM till 9 PM and reopen Saturday morning from 8 AM till time of service. A rosary will be prayed Friday evening at 7 PM.
