"Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother" Services for Mrs. Leonard J. Romero, the former Gladys Bourque, 75, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Arnaud officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Visiting hours will be observed Monday, December 11, 2006 from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at David Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 8 a.m. until the time of service. A native of Scott and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Romero died at 10:25 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2006, at Iberia Medical Center. Mrs. Romero enjoyed traveling and cooking for her family. She is survived by her six sons, Leonard J. Romero Jr. and wife Wanda, Allen Romero, Lance Romero and wife Sheri, Chris Romero, Tracy Romero and wife Siana, and Eric Romero and wife Jill; daughters, Eleanor Romero, Linda Comeaux, all of New Iberia, and Shirley Perrodin and husband Will of Broussard; a sister, Mary Helen B. Toups and husband Leroy; 27 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Romero was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard J. Romero Sr.; parents, Jile J. and Edia Gary Bourque; a brother, Clauda J. Bourque; and two sisters, Elmay Marie Bourque Thibodeaux and Hazel Marie Bourque. Pallbearers will be Leonard Romero Jr., Allen, Chris, Lance, Tracy and Eric Romero. Honorary pallbearer will be Rachael Romero Medina. David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of the arrangements.
