Services forRita Nell Landry Conrad, 70, will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Teche Catholic Church with the Rev. Steve LeBlanc officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be observed Monday, January 22, 2007 from 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at David Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at 8:00 AM until the time of service.
A native of Coteau and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Conrad died at 4:15 PM Friday, January 19, 2007, at Dauterive Hospital.
Mrs. Conrad worked in the food industry for many years, having several in several positions from waitressing to ownership of her own establishment. She loved waitressing because she could meet so many people from many areas. Nell especially loved cooking for her family.
Ma-Ma, as she was affectionately called, had a deep love from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her face always lit up when she was with them or spoke about them.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Jerry Conrad of New Iberia; three sons, Cirk Romero and wife Marti of Maui, Hawaii, Chris Romero and wife Deidre of Baton Rouge, and Keith Romero and wife Deborah of Maui, Hawaii; two daughters, Myrna Romero and Priscilla Hall, both of Lafayette; step-children, Anthony Tony Conrad of Lafayette, Robert Conrad of Reno, Nevada, Catherine Pourciau of New Iberia, David Conrad of New Iberia, John Conrad of Austin, Texas, and Kay Simpson of Houston, Texas; four brothers, Lou Allen Landry of New Iberia, Jeffery Landry Jr. of Franklin, Brian Landry of Lafayette, and Mark G. Landry of Broussard; seven sisters,Floinda Labiche of New Iberia, Myrtle Sis Vincent of Maurice, Gladys Broussard of New Iberia, Gloria Cormier of Lafayette, Jenny Landry Foreman of Lafayette, Janell Breaux of Scott, and Barbara Charpentier of Baldwin; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Conrad was preceded in death by her parents, John Jeffery Landry Sr. and Beulah Fremin; a brother, Harold J. Landry; and a sister, Barbara Romero.
Pallbearers will be Brandi Zenon, John Conrad, Christen Romero, Gerad Comeaux, Jason Savoy and Ryan Romero. Named as honorary pallbearers are Myrna Romera and Priscilla Hall.
David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of the arrangements.
