Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother

New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Emile Bertrand, Jr., the former Bridgette Butaud, Age 73, at 2:00PM Monday June 4, 2007 at David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C.M. Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 10:00AM till 9:00PM and again Monday from 8:00AM till time of service. She died Friday June 1, 2007 at 11:45PM in a Lafayette healthcare facility.

A native of Louisa, Mrs. Bertrand was a resident of New Iberia. She enjoyed reading and doing crafts. She was a marvelous cook. She and Mr. Emile were married for 56 years.

Survivors include her husband, Emile Bertrand Jr., three daughters; Regina B. Touchet and husband Ronald, Carmen B. Bourque and husband Regan and Darlene B. DeMarcay all of New Iberia, two sons; Verlon Bertrand and wife Monica of New Iberia and Mark J. Bertrand and wife Phyllis of Youngsville and one sister; Shirley B. Thibodeaux of Cypremort Point, thirteen grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren She is also survived by her loving pet, Sissy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Ovide and Helen Borel Butaud, Sr., her son; Emile Bertrand III, great-grandson; Johnathan Emile Blanchard, brothers; Ovide Butaud Jr., Harry Butaud, Sr. and Morgan Butaud and sisters; Wilma Ewing and Mary Richard.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Bertrand, Bryan DeMarcay, and Regan Bourque, Jr., Wayne Gary Jr., Devin Bertrand, Michael DeMarcay, Ian Bertrand and Casey Bourque. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephanie Bourque, Tiffany Gary, Mackenzie McClean, Jamie Sue Bertrand, Emily Bertrand, Blaze Bourque, Brandi Dautreuil, Brittany Arabie, Sheryl Bertrand, Susan Bertrand, Laci DeMarcay, Brock Touchet, Tara Blanchard, Emile Bertrand IV and Steven Bertrand.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
