Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Lloyd Joseph Gibby Guiberteau, Sr., age 86, at 11:00AM Monday December 4, 2006 at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Mausoleum with his wife of over 60 years Josephine. Visitation will be Sunday December 3, 2006 from 5:00PM till 9:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Monday December 4, 2006 from 8:00AM till time of service. Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 1982. He is survived by three daughters; Cheryl G. Landry and husband Charles of Broussard, Cindy G. Muffoletto and husband Joe of New Iberia and Lisa G. Maggard of Houston, Texas; one son Lloyd Guiberteau, Jr. of Lafayette; one brother A.J. Guiberteau and wife Lucy of New Iberia; two sisters, Charlotte G. LeBlanc and husband Charlie of Baton Rouge and Shirley Porche of Tyler, Texas; twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine LeBlanc Guiberteau; his parents, Adolph and Celia Bouy Guiberteau; three brothers and two sisters, Raymond, Clifford and Leroy Guiberteau, Lillian Segura and baby sister Lucille Guiberteau. A native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette Lloyd was a veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific Islands. He was Justice of the Peace in Jeanerette for four years, City Marshall of Jeanerette Court for twenty-four years and never missed a day in court. He served with Judge John Rogers for eighteen years and Judge Cameron Simmons for six years. He was a life member and served as first vice-commander of American Legion Lee Gautreaux Post 26 and was also a life member and served as Past Post Commander of Lionel Delcambre VFW post 8150. He was past president of the Fifty-Plus Club. He was a volunteer fireman in the 1940s. He was sworn in a Marshal by Gov. Edwin Edwards in the office of the Governor in Baton Rouge. He was a member of the Franklin Golden Age Club, the Knights of Columbus and was a board member of the Veterans Building in Jeanerette City Park. Lloyd and his wife Josephine co-owned two businesses in Jeanerette, a seafood market and the National Mercantile Co. He married many couples and he had fond memories of marrying a couple in his fish market when he was Justice of the Peace. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and had much love for all of them. Pallbearers will be Charles Landry, Jr., Eddie Faucheaux, Kenny Maggard, Jr., Joey Muffoletto, Timmy Varnado and Kevin Delcambre. Honorary pallbearers will be Conner Guiberteau, Charles Landry, Sr., Joe Muffoletto, Jr., Kenneth Maggard, Sr., Edmond Landry, Cameron Simmons, Dale Mitchell, Marshall Cranche Willard Whitey Hebert and Oneil LeBlanc.
