New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Lawrence L. Golden, Jr., Age 69, at 10:00AM Friday July 17, 2009 at David Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday July 16, 2009 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM and again Friday from 8:00AM until service time. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Louisiana Hospice and Palative Care, 336 Heather Drive, Opelousas, La. 70570. A native of Shreveport and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Golden died Tuesday July 14, 2009 at 11:46AM at his residence. He graduated from New Iberia Senior High School and USL now UL. He also attended LSU. He was president of Lawrence Golden Jr. Inc. and Secretary Treasurer of Golden Oil Company. Mr. Golden was a member of The Cajun Connoisseur Supper Club, The LaCachette Gourmet Club and an honorary member of The Ancient Order of Creole Gourmet Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed spending his time fishing out of Cypremort Point or being at his farm in Patoutville. He also served in the Louisiana National Guard. He also donated the building known as the Iberia Homeless Shelter. Survivors include his wife, Eloise Lege Golden of New Iberia; one daughter, Jamie Laviolette and husband Todd of Maurice; one son, Jason Sonnier of Houston, Texas; two grandsons, Gaven and Jace Laviolette both of Maurice; a sister, Margaret L. Bishop and husband Jay of Houston, Texas; and two nephews, Gil Bishop of California and Trevor Bishop of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence L. Golden, Sr. and Opal Sims Golden and his step mother, Mabel Delcambre Golden. Pallbearers will be Gerald Patin, Gordy White, Ray Boyer, Pat Hebert, Emanuel St. Upery and Andre Broussard.
