New Iberia " Services for Thomas Dorsey, 76, will be heldat 11:00 AM Thursday, January 18, 2007, Scared Heart Catholic Church with Father Steve LeBlanc officiating. Entombment with military rites provided by V.F.W. Post 1982 will follow in the Memorial Park Mausoleum .
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Thursday, January 18, 2007, from 8:00 AM until service time. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
Thomas Dorsey, a loving husband, father and grandfather, is a native of Delcambre and a life long resident of New Iberia. Mr. Dorsey died at 8:25 PM on Monday, January 15, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Dorsey retired from Teledyne Mobile Offshore and the Hilton Hotel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was proud to serve our country during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Dorsey was well known to our community through his volunteer service with the Disabled American Veteran's Association having driven 20,000 miles providing transportation services for disabled veterans, serving in military honor guards and as a 4th Degree Knight to the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was an avid crossword puzzle master, enjoyed bowling with local leagues and was a devoted family man.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruby Frederick Dorsey; two daughters, Denise D. Perry and her husband Tony and Rachelle Migues and her fiancee' Bobby; granddaughters; Brittney Migues, Andrea Roseberry and her husband Joshua, Ashley Perry, Jardi Migues and Jayci Migues; sister, Martha Schlichter and his supportive brother-in-law Donald Carmichael and sister-in-law Joyce Dorsey.
Mr. Dorsey was preceded in death by his first born baby girl, Dawn Marie; his parents Thomas Turner Dorsey and Sophie LeMaire Dorsey; his brother and sister, Homer Lee John Dorsey and Jackie Rae Carmichael and his beloved Nan Nit.
Pallbearers will be Donald Carmichael, Bryan Dorsey, Hugh Carmichael, Danny Frederick, Dustin Louviere and Bobby Eades. Honorary pallbearers are Rene Dorsey, Michael Dorsey, Joshua Roseberry, Scott Frederick, Kenny Frederick and Stacy Frederick. His son-in-law, Tony Perry will arrange a Military Honor Guard at his burial site.
David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of the arrangements.
