Loreauville " Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Louis James Landry, Sr., 74, on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Mario Romero officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1982 of New Iberia.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home in Loreauville on Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 beginning at 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM and re-open on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed at the funeral home on Friday at 5:30 PM.
A native and lifelong resident of Loreauville, Mr. Landry died on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006 at 10:20 PM in a New Iberia hospital. He was a sugar cane farmer for 35 years, a member of the U.S. Armed Forces, served on the Board for Cajun Sugar Co-op, Lasalette Memorial Hospital and Federal Land Bank. He was an avid fisherman, loved rooster fights, the casino and spending time with family and friends and was a fan of country music singer, George Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Louviere Landry of Loreauville; his sons, Reynolds James Landry and his wife Roberta Duplantis Landry, Louis James Landry, Jr. and his wife Laurie Oubre Landry all of St. Martinville and Byron John Landry and his wife Annette Hulin Landry of Loreauville; his daughter, Rene Hoffpauir and her husband Benji Hoffpauir of Loreauville; his sister, Donna Landry of St. Martinville; his grandchildren, Rebecca L. LeBlanc and her husband Jacques LeBlanc, Rachel Landry and her fiancee Kyle Poirier all of St. Martinville, Ariel Hoffpauir and Lexie Landry both of Loreauville, Ross Landry and Dylen Landry both of St. Martinville, Cassie Landry of Loreauville, Conner Landry of St. Martinville and Drake Hoffpauir of Loreauville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Otto Landry; mother, Una Verret Landry and his brother, John Harold Landry.
Pallbearers will be Reynolds James Landry, Louis James Landry, Jr., Byron John Landry, Benji Hoffpauir, David Poirier and Donald Louviere.
Honorary pallbearers will be Creed Barras, J. D. Simar, Herman Bulldog Walet, Steve Broussard, Allen Bruce Broussard, Wilton Darby, Loicey Pommier, Jacques LeBlanc and Kyle Poirier.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, Mary Olivier, Kaleisha Miller, Desiree Dugas, Ruby Levine, Madame Doucet, Beatrice Olivier, Diane Alexander and the Staffs of Acadiana Home Health and Hospice of Acadiana.
