A gathering of family and friends will be conducted on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until service time in David Funeral Home.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Chriss body was donated for scientific research to Tulane University School of Medicine.
Mr. Chriss passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 in a New Iberia hospital.
A native of Louisa, Mr. Chriss was born on August 14, 1911 to Amelia Martin Chriss and Godfrey H. Chriss, Sr. He was a graduate of Franklin High School, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Chriss was a former resident of Port Arthur, TX, where he retired from Texaco. He also formerly lived in Lake Charles and Lafayette, and was a resident of New Iberia for six years, some of which were spent living in Azalea Estates Retirement Home. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Chriss enjoyed both camping and fishing.
Survivors include his daughter, Pat Tolbert and husband Wayne of Vidor, TX; sister, Nora Borel and husband Raoul of New Iberia, LA; grandchildren, Anita Dorchuck and husband Stanley of Vidor, TX,and Mike Tolbert and wife Nicki of Vidor, TX; great-grandchildren, Jason Dorchuck and wife Ashley of Vidor, TX, Jennifer Dorchuck, Shawn Tolbert, and Chelsea Tolbert all of Vidor, TX; one great-great-granddaughter, Jacelyn Dorchuck of Vidor, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding Mr. Chriss in death were his parents; his wife, Ola Mae Chriss; brothers, Harry A. Chriss and Wilson W. Chriss; and sisters, Lillian Anderson, Rita Gahn, and Dora LeBlanc.
David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
