LOREAUVILLE - Guy Allen Ransonet peacefully and gently eased from this world at his Lafayette residence on Friday, March 2, 2007 surrounded by loving family, friends, and the wonderful art he has left to this world to enjoy and inspire.
Born to May G. and Stanley Put Ransonet on November 29, 1947. Reared in Loreauville, Guy came to prominence after graduating from USL in 1970 through his much appreciated and exceptional talent for art, interior, and furniture design.
Through few words spoken, Guy evoked the hearts of many. In his own words of inspiration for his gifts, he wrote:
As a child growing up surrounded by still bayous and flat expansive cane fields, I became interested in the environment I could observe on a daily basis. For me, the landscape became a source of peace and serenity. I also knew that it held a particular form of expression.
I saw things through the eyes of a shy, introvert, continually editing out human elements that complicated my vision. By eliminating these elements, I focused on showing landscapes that were in their calmest and most serene state.
Earth is a living organism with its own moods, emotions, and feelings. I paint with the same reverence that I would have for a good friend. I paint it as I see it be " a friendly, but oh so sacred place.
The works that emerge are products of meditative moments that inspired me to create them. Each carries a spiritual message that is revealed to me in the process.
As we try to survive in our anxiety - ridden world of technology and suburban sprawl, let us become of our beautiful Mother and her fragile destiny. Perhaps, if we awaken and begin to care for her, she will return to us gifts beyond measure.
Left to grow in his love and passion are Julie Ransonet; children, Jennifer and Patrick Ransonet; grandchildren, Alexandra and Cole Ransonet; brothers, Darryl and Lynn Ransonet; sister-in-law, Louella Ransonet; special friend, Reggie Valrie; and many unmentioned loving relatives.
The family invites all, whose lives were touched by the art, friendship, love and incredible sense of humor of this gentle man to share in their celebration of his earthly life at a Memorial Mass at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville.
The family expressed a heartfelt thanks to all who graciously gave of their time in his care.
David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of the arrangements.
