Grace Romero Little

New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial for Grace Romero Little, 88, of Lafayette will be celebrated on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in St. Peter Catholic Church. The Reverend Steve LeBlanc will serve as celebrant. Musical selections will be sung by Mrs. Little's niece, Marilyn Muffoletto. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2007 from 9:00 A.M. until service time in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 11:00 A.M. Mrs. Little passed away on Monday, January 22, 2007 at 8:30 P.M. in her Lafayette residence. A native of New Iberia, Mrs. Little resided in Galveston, TX for twenty years prior to moving to Lafayette over forty years ago. She was a gifted artist who applied her talents to many fields of endeavor. While living in Galveston, Mrs. Little worked as a fashion illustrator for Levys Department Store, and at John Sealy Hospital doing medical drawings. Upon her return to Lafayette, Mrs. Little worked in the Oil Center in the drafting departments of Skelly Oil Company and Amerada-Hess Oil Company. She was also a freelance artist, working for many businesses in the Lafayette area. Of all her artistic achievements, Mrs. Little was most proud of sharing her gifts by drawing the cover pages of bulletins for Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church on the University of Louisiana campus. Survivors include her nieces, Julie F. Guidry of Church Point, Evelyn S. Clausen and husband, Harold of Verdunville, Carolyn S. Novoa and husband, Manuel of Denver, CO, and Marilyn Muffoletto and husband, Paul of Lafayette; and nephews, Al Gonsoulin and wife, Darla of Houston, TX, Alfred Fortier and wife, Janet of New Iberia, Gene Gonsoulin and wife, Fran of Birmingham, AL, Leonard Lee Little, Jr. of Cleveland, TN, Michael Gonsoulin of Houma, and Byron Fortier of New Orleans. Preceding Mrs. Little in death were her husband, Leonard Lee Little, Sr.; parents, Alphe and Clara Berard Romero; and sisters, Rena Little, Marie Stanzel, Odile Romero, Maydel Fortier, and Evelyn Gonsoulin. Serving as pallbearers are Al, Gene, and Michael Gonsoulin, Alfred and Byron Fortier, and Leonard Lee Little, Jr. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Mrs. Littles caregivers, Earline Migues, Leah Bourgeois, Bernita Jagneaux, Ella Thibodeaux, and Autherine Bourgeois for their excellent care and concern; to Dr. Kemp Coreil for his care and compassion; Dot Mims for her visits and for sharing Holy Communion with Mrs. Little; and Peggy Guillory for her special friendship. David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
