Erath - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Annie Mae Romero Benoit, 86, will be held on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Paul Broussard officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Sunday, July 19, 2009 from 11:00AM until 10:00 PM with a recitation of the rosary at 5:00PM and 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, July 20, 2009 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum.

A native of Iberia Parish, and a resident of Erath, Mrs. Benoit died Friday, July 17, 2009 at 8:11AM at her residence. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Benoit retired from the Vermilion Parish School Board.

She is survived by two sons, Alvin Benoit and Larry Benoit both of Erath; eight daughters, Mary Arceneaux of Delcambre, Verna Benoit of Abbeville, Clara Trahan of New Iberia, Nancy Broussard of Coteau, Linda Landry of Erath, Diane Trahan of Erath, Helen Viator of Erath, and Jan Vincent of Abbeville; and one sister Ola Hebert of New Iberia; thirty-three grandchildren, sixty-one great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Lloyd Benoit, Sr., her parents, Ophe Romero and Marie Hulin Romero; one son, Wilson Lloyd Pete Benoit, Jr.; two daughters Annie Belle Benoit, and Ruby Falgout; one brother, Ollay Romero; two granddaughters, Roxanne Benoit Morvant, and Megan Arceneaux; one grandson, James Vincent; and a son-in-law Steve Viator.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Benoit, Mark Arceneaux, II, Scotty Trahan, Jason Falgout, Shane Landry, Cody Boutte, Jade Viator, and Cory Benoit.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Nick Vincent, Trevor Trahan, Steve Harrington, Troy Falgout, Brent Spell, Brock Benoit, Anthony Trahan, and Mark Harrington.
