New Iberia ~ Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Elias J. Kie Guidry, Jr. the former Mary Helen Fermental, Age 81, on Tuesday December 30, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Parlor, with Father Francis Miller officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery in Abbeville. Visiting hours will be observed Tuesday December 30, 2008 from 10:00 AM until time of services. Mrs. Guidry passed away Thursday December 25, 2008 at 12:20 AM in a New Iberia Nursing Home. She was a native of Vermilion Parish and a resident of New Iberia. Mrs. Guidry loved life. She loved to read books, especially science fiction. She was also very adamant about listening to her Cajun Zydeco music. While raising four children she stayed busy as a housewife and mother. She could always tell her grandchildren stories of years back and how different things are now from the way things were back in her day. She was a wonderful person and a grandmother, and great grandmother and a loving devoted wife. She saw very hard times in her life and managed to see herself and her kids through all of them while her husband work offshore and overseas. You could always go to grandmas house for a snack or a hug, a shoulder to lean on or even a rest. There was no place like grandmas. She will always be number one in our hearts. We love you grandma, rest in peace. Mrs. Guidry is survived by her children, William Guidry and his wife Sandra of Youngsville, Catherine G. Fulmer and her husband Jay of New Orleans, Molly G. Geautreaux and her husband Jim of Loreauville and Spring G. Stansbury and her husband Roland, Jr. of New Iberia; Two sisters,Velma Keith of New Iberia and Linda Wotipka of Abbeville, One brother, Lesson J. Fermantal of Chula Vista, California, Her grandchildren, Billy J. Guidry of New Iberia, Jonathan Guidry of Bloomington, Illinois, David Guidry of San Antonio, Texas, Ryan Guidry, Christopher Morvant, Paul K. Morvant, Jr. and Roland Stansbury, III all of New Iberia, Shane Touchet of Dallas, Texas, Larry Touchet, Jr. of Erath, Christiana T. McDonald of Maurice, La. Jillian M. Romero and Michelle Missy Guidry both of New Iberia, Mary J. Guidry of Youngsville and Lisa Geautreaux of Loreauville and 17 great grandchildren; Special friends, Denise David Edler, Blaine M. Miller, Derrian Breaux, Gene Burns all of New Iberia ,and Francine Marks of Jeanerette, and two special pets Baby Girl and Missy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elias J. Kie Guidry, Jr., her parents, Oneil Fermental and Enedea Meaux Fermental, and her son, Christopher Guidry Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Guidry, Brad Lasseigne, Derrian Breaux, Blaine Miller, Jonathan Guidry, and Gene Burns. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Hayden Dugas, Justin Armentor, Roland Stansbury, III and Billy J. Guidry. David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
