Glenn P. Newton

Youngsville " A Celebration of Life Service for Glenn P. Newton, 53, will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Youngsville at 6:00PM. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00PM until service time. A native of Ballston Spa, New York, and longtime resident of Youngsville, Mr. Newton passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 3:15PM at his home. He was employed with Lafayette Paint and Supply in Broussard, LA for 22 years. Glenn served his country as a Vietnam Era Seabee in the United States Navy. His love for his family and his church was evident through his involvement in their activities and education. His greatest joy was teaching and being a disciple of Christ, spending time with his grandchildren, and leading the children in Awanas at his church. He enjoyed photography, scuba diving and collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia. Survivors include his wife, Vicki Newton of Youngsville; his sons, Matthew Newton of Youngsville and Elliott Kahn and his wife Suzi of Sunset; his daughters, Charlena Comyne and her husband Aaron of Duson and Rachael Kahn of Morgan City; his mother, Anna Mae Newton of Saratoga Springs, New York; his brothers, Hal Branahl and his wife Sue of Waxahachie, Texas, Bob Newton and his wife Jennifer of East Nassau, New York, Lee Newton and his wife Theresa and their sons, Eric and Elijah of Ballston Spa, New York, and Scott Newton of Saratoga Springs, New York; and his grandchildren, Amber and Jonathan Comyne and Eli Kahn. He was preceded in death by his father, Harley Newton. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the family and friends. The Newton family wishes to express thanks to Love in Action, our church family at First Baptist Church of Youngsville, Al Moseley and the staff of Lafayette Paint and Supply, the staff and nurses at St. Josephs Hospice, and to our family and friends that have provided their prayers and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Youngsville Awana Club, P.O. Box 168, Youngsville, LA 70592.
