Jeanerette. Mr. Dominick Pope, 95 died Thursday February 23, 2006 at 8:00AM in Maison Teche Nursing Center in Jeanerette. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday February 27, 2006 at 1:00 PM at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Entombment will follow in St. John Mausoleum. Visiting hours will be observed on Monday February 27, 2006 from 9:30 AM until time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM on Monday. Mr. Pope was a native of St. Mary Parish and a resident of Jeanerette. He was a retired carpenter. Mr. Pope was a member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the U.S. Army. While in the military he received the good conduct medal, WW II victory medal. He was also in charge of raising and lowering the flag at Maison Teche Nursing Center. Graveside Military honors will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1982 funeral honor guard. Mr. Pope is survived by 1 brother: Sam Pope of Jeanerette, 3 Nieces: Linda Gatte of Jeanerette, La., Mary Ann Carline of Baldwin, La, and Gail Taylor of New Orleans, La. And 2 Nephews: Johnny Pope of Shalimar, Florida and David Pope of Jeanerette, La. Mr. Pope was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Pope and Mary Perry Pope, a brother, Tony Pope and a sister, Tiny Pone. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Pope, David Pope, Tommy Carline, Ronnie Broussard, Joe Douglas and Jack Horick. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Sam Perry, Gregory Carline, Sam Pope, Gregory Pope, Jeremy Pope,Bryan Pope, Trek Gatte, and John Gatte.
