View Video TributeLafayette " A Mass of Christian Burial for Onila J. Drouet, 81, will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Keith Landry officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette beginning on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from 4:00PM until 10:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 8:00AM until the time of Services. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A native of Youngsville and a resident of Lafayette Mr. Drouet died at 6:18PM on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at a River Oaks Retirement Manor. He was a proud veteran, having served his country in the Army during WWII. He was a heavy equipment operator for a construction company. Mr. Drouet was known as a hard working family man who loved the outdoors, working in his yard and shop building or repairing things. And was always willing to help someone in need. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Agnes Guidry Drouet of Broussard; a son, Jimmy Drouet and his wife Dee of Carencro; a daughter, Debbie Hebert and her husband Chris of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Dexter Drouet, Trace Drouet, and Mike Hebert; and one great grandchild, Makayla Drouet. He is preceded in death by his parents, Armand and Cedelize Delahoussaye Drouet; three brothers, Arville, Orile, and Oneil Drouet; and two sisters, Marie Romero and Viola Guilbeaux. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Drouet, Mike Hebert, Russell Vallot, Chris Hebert, Dexter Drouet, and Trace Drouet. The family would like to express their thanks to Hospice of Acadiana and the staff at River Oaks Retirement Manor for their care for Mr. Drouet. Also a special thanks to Russell and Marie Vallot and their family who will always have a special place in our families hearts.
