Leonard Joseph Romero

July 29, 1935 — June 27, 2006

New Iberia- Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Leonard J. "Rome" Romero, Sr. Age 70 at 11:00AM Thursday at David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Salvino Ruben Premore officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will begin Wednesday from 4:00PM till 10:00PM and again Thursday from 8:00AM till service time.He died Tuesday June 27, 2006 at 2:45PM at Iberia Medical Center. Mr. Romero was a native and lifelong resident of New Iberia. He enjoyed fishing, camping and cooking. He was a fitter in the oilfield working for Waukesha Pearce for 20 years. He is survived by his wife the former Gladys Bourque of New Iberia. Six sons, Leonard Romero and wife Wanda, Allen Romero, Lance Romero and wife Sheri, Chris Romero, Tracy Romero and wife Seanne and Eric Romero and wife Jill all of New Iberia. Three daughters, Eleanor Donnely and husband Lee and Linda Comeaux both of New Iberia and Shirley Perrodin and husband Will of Broussard. One brother Eddie Romero and wife Shirley of New Iberia. Survivors include 26 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Aristide and Cecile Louviere Romero. Pallbearers will be Leonard Romero, Jr., Allen Romero, Lance Romero, Chris Romero, Tracy Romero and Eric Romero. Eddie Romero will be an honorary pallbearer. David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
