Lafayette- Memorial service for Farrell James Skelton, 58, will be held at David Funeral Chapel on July 22, 2006, at 10:00 AM. Mr. Skelton was a descendent of Red Skelton, a member of the AOPA and the Civil Air Patrol. Mr. Skelton was also an instructor for young pilots learning to fly, jet pilot in Vietnam Conflict, flew a F100 fighter plane, ground school instructor at UL, instrument instructor at Lafayette Regional Airport, Gold Seal flight instructor, FAA Safety Counselor, check pilot for multiple aircraft for single and double planes, pioneer in aviation with new aspects in teaching and sponsor of Computer Testing Center at Lafayette Regional Airport. He was a very giving person who helped anyone in need. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. He was very generous to everyone he met. Mr. Skelton is survived by his wife, Mary Martha Mitcham Skelton; one son Shaun Paul Skelton and his wife Shannon of Tallmadge, Ohio, one daughter Criquette Lynn Skelton Tassin and her husband Greg of Dexton, Texas; three grandsons, Joshua Skelton, Hunter Tassin and Calton Tassin; one granddaughter Ashlynn Tassin; two brothers, Don Skelton and his wife Delma, and Owen Skelton; two sisters, Brenda Wilson and her husband Patrick and Shirley Moore; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Skelton was preceded in death by his father, James Farell Skelton and his mother, Betty Jean Freeman. David Funeral Home of Lafayette, La, 316 Youngsville Highway is in charge of arrangements.
